What exactly is a token?
A token is the metered unit of API consumption. Each API type costs a different number of tokens based on the compute involved. Autocomplete costs 1 token per query. Address verification costs 3. Full geocoding (forward or reverse) costs 5. Landmark enrichment costs 10. You only pay for what you use.
How does the pay-as-you-go billing work?
Every developer account receives 50,000 free tokens every month. If your usage exceeds this free quota, you are billed at a flat rate of $10 per 100,000 additional tokens at the end of the billing cycle. There are no fixed monthly subscription fees, zero base fees, and no contracts.
Can I set monthly spending limits?
Yes. To prevent unexpected charges, you can configure hard and soft monthly spend limits in your developer dashboard. We send notifications when your usage reaches 80% and 100% of your soft limit. If a hard budget limit is hit, subsequent API calls return a 429 quota-exceeded response until the limit is adjusted.
Can I use multiple API keys under one account?
Yes, you can generate unlimited API keys to tag different environments (sandbox, staging, production) or applications. All keys share your account's single token pool, letting you track, rate limit, and monitor usage for multiple apps in one unified billing invoice.
